A watercolour showing a view of a Highland landscape near the Corrie Feragie. The Valley of Braemar is shown in the foreground, with Highland hills shown in the background. Inscribed lower left: From [?Corry] Feragie [two illegible words] looking up the Valley of Braemar. Oct: 1 1864. While staying at Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 1 October 1864, the Queen rode to The Lion's Face with three of her children. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how they rode "up a hill just above the road, where we had luncheon & I remained some time sketching, the view of the valley of Braemar, which is so fine".
