A watercolour showing a view of Lochnagar. Trees are shown across the foreground with one taller tree shown to the left. Lochnagar is shown in the background. Inscribed below mounted sheet: Loch Nagar [sic] from above Grant's [house] Sept: 20. 1864. While staying at Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. In her journal entry of 20 September 1864, Queen Victoria describes how she "Went out in the pony chair, Lenchen [Princess Helena] walking, & we stopped to sketch". John Grant was the Head Keeper at Balmoral and lived on the Balmoral Estate.
