A watercolour showing a view of a harbour and headland near Osborne House, Isle of Wight. Trees are shown in the foreground, with a clearing in the centre. The sea is shown behind, with sail boats shown on the water. The harbour is shown stretching out from the right. Inscribed lower left: July 23-24 1860. In her journal entry of 23 July 1860, Queen Victoria describes how she "drew & painted with Mr Leitch". William Leighton Leitch started instructing the queen in watercolour technique in 1842, continuing to teach her until migraines forced him to retire 22 years later.
