Queen Victoria describes visiting Dubh Loch with her family in her journal entry of 22 September 1855. She travelled with Prince Albert, Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, Victoria, Princess Royal and the Princess' future husband Prince Frederick William of Prussia by pony to the loch which she describes as "looking beautiful". -
