A watercolour showing a view of Loch Muick, possibly from the head of Glas-Allt Falls. The Loch is shown from a height and surrounded by steep cliffs. Inscribed lower left: W. of Glassalt. Sept: 24 1858.
Queen Victoria went on a ride around the Balmoral Estate on 24 Septeber 1858. She records the excursion in her journal entry of that day, describing how they "Reached the little [Glas Allt] Shiel after 3 & took our cold luncheon there. Walked & rode afterwards nearly on to the Glassalt". -
