A watercolour showing a view of a hilly path beside Loch Builg. The loch can be seen to the left, surrounded by hills. The path is shown winding around a hill to the right of the loch. Inscribed lower left: Oct: 9 - 1857.
Queen Victoria visited Loch Builg with Victoria, Princess Royal, on 9 October 1857. The Queen describes in her journal entry of that day, how "there were occasionally gleams of sunshine, otherwise it unfortunately rained hard". Queen Victoria had spent the morning visiting workers on the Balmoral Estate and distributing petticoats to the woman who lived in the cottages at Balnacroft & Kintore. -
