A watercolour showing a view of a Highland landscape from the Carn an t-Sagairt Beag looking towards the Clova Hills. A hill is shown in the foreground, sloping down from the left, with further hills shown in the background. Inscribed on RCIN 980032.i verso: South Craig of the Dhu [sic] Cairn na Bannoch, from little Craig Taggart [sic] Clover [sic] Hills [?leaving] from Allt na Guibhsach [sic].
While staying at Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 28 August 1860 the queen rode to Carn na t-Sagairt. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how "At the foot of [of the carn] we sat down & had our luncheon & sketched. It was beautiful. One could see the Dhu Loch [sic], the Clova Hills & Cairn na Bannoch". -
