Inscribed lower left: Festung from the Rosenau Sept: 26 & 29. 1860. From 22 September to 17 October 1860, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert travelled to Germany with their second daughter Princess Alice to visit their married daughter Victoria, Princess Royal. They stayed in the Palace at Coburg from 25 September to 10 October 1860. Queen Victoria visited the Rosenau on both the 26 and 29 September 1860. On 29 September 1860, Queen Victoria visited the Rosenau with the Princess Royal. They lunched at the Marmor Saal and then mother and daughter sat outside sketching.
