A pencil drawing showing a view of a military camp at Aldershot. Continued on RCIN 980031.i verso. Soldiers are shown to the right, marching across a rocky landscape. Inscribed below: June - 17 - 1856. On 16 June 1856 Queen Victoria and her family visited the military camp at Aldershot to watch military manoeuvres. They stayed in the Royal Pavilion overnight and watched field exercises the next day. In her journal entry of 17 June 1856, Queen Victoria describes how she "saw a great deal of pretty maneuvering of Artillery, Cavalry & Infantry, with plenty of firing & cheering".
