Description

A watercolour showing a view of a seascape from the HMS Fairy. Land is shown to the right and in the distance, with the sea shown in the foreground. Inscribed lower left: On Board [?on] the Fairy. June 3. 1858. On 3 June 1858 Queen Victoria and four of her children went sailing off the coast of the Isle of Wight on the HMS Fairy. The Queen described the "Delightful on the water, & such lovely lights" in her journal entry of that day.
