A watercolour showing a view of Loch Muick from the Glas-allt-shiel. Loch Muick is shown in the foreground to the right. A hill is shown sloping down from the left and further hills are shown in the background. Inscribed lower left: From Glassalt [sic] Shiel. Sept: 24. 1858 While staying at Balmoral Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 24 September 1858 the Queen rode to the Glass-allt Falls and then on to the Glas-allt-shiel. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how she "walked about & sketched" at the Glas-allt-shiel.
