While staying at Balmoral, Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 6 September 1850 the Queen, her husband and her Lady of the Bedchamber ascended Beinn a' Bhuird. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes the view from the top as "magnificent & most extensive, One sees [Beinn a' Ghlo] beautifully". -
