An ink drawing showing Queen Victoria's seventeenth grandaugher, Princess Alexandra of Edinburgh, on Osborne-headed mourning notepaper. She is shown full-length, standing with her arms by her side and facing left. She is wearing a nineteenth-century style child's dress.

Princess Alexandra was the third daugher of Queen Victoria's second son, Prince Alfred and his wife the Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia. Princess Alexandra, along with her three older siblings, was staying with Queen Victoria at Osborne House during April 1881. Queen Victoria describes the young Princess in her journal entry of 25 April 1881 as "quite adorable". -
