A pencil drawing showing Queen Victoria's youngest child, Princess Beatrice and her first grandaughter, Princess Charlotte of Prussia. They are shown playing around a cradle, possibly the seventeenth-century German cradle that Queen Victoria's children slept in as babies. Princess Charlotte is shown standing in front of the cradle, facing left and looking at her young aunt who appears to be running around the back of the cradle.

Princess Charlotte visited her Grandmother, Queen Victoria, with her Mother, Victoria, Princess Royal, her Father, The Crown Prince of Prussia and her older brother Prince Wilhelm. They arrived in England on 26 June 1861 and stayed until 16 August 1861. During their stay Princess Charlotte celebrated her first birthday on 24 July 1861. -
