Inscribed lower left: P.V.f.KP. Feb: 15th 1834.
Princess Victoria saw The Revolt of the Harem performed at the Covent Garden Theatre on 11 Feb 1834. The young princess took a particular interest in the costumes she had seen worn in theatrical performances and in her journal entry of that day she describes how Leroux "had three different dresses; the two first of rich gauze and the last a helmet and cuirass. She looked prettiest in her second dress."
Verso: a pencil drawing showing the bust of a woman, possibly Leroux. -
