A watercolour with touches of gold paint showing the actress Miss Daly as the character of Fluvia in the operatic-ballet-burletta of Lurline. She is shown full-length, facing left with her face turned to the front. She is holding up her skirt with one hand and holding the other out in front of her. She is dressed in a white ballet dress trimmed with coral.
Inscribed below: Miss Daly as Fluvia as she appeared in her 2d dress at the Adelphi.
Inscribed lower left: PV.f.K.P. Jan: 25th 1834.
Princess Victoria saw Lurline (or The Revolt of the Naiades) performed at the Adelphi Theatre on 24 January 1834. The young princess took a particular interest in the costumes she had seen worn in theatrical performances. In her journal entry of 24 January 1834, she describes Miss Daly as "a very handsome person. She has a most beautiful figure". -
