The gilt-bronze border of the lacquer tray cast with foliage and rockwork, on a lightly ridged ground, above a waved lower edge, with four bifurcated rockwork feet with cartouche clasps. Two of the three porcelain wells with pierced oak-leaf covers suspending cylinders, one for sanding, the other lined with glass for ink. Around the body of each, three growths of vines, on a circular ring foot issuing oak leaves and acorns. The central vase with a rockwork and foliate-cast rim around the top, identical to the rim of the tray, with a circular oak-leaf and acorn ring foot.
