A watercolour showing the Lantern Lobby at Windsor Castle. The Lobby is on the site of the Private Chapel, where the 1992 Windsor Castle fire started. The space was restored to a design by Giles Downes. A view by Creswell of the space in the immediate aftermath of the fire is RCIN 932541.
Alexander Creswell was invited to record the interiors of Windsor in the aftermath of the fire in 1993. In 1999 he produced a companion series of watercolours depicting the restored interiors.Provenance
