A black chalk drawing of a portrait of a young Indian man. Signed by the artist and dated.
Gopal Damodar Deuskar studied at the Sir. J.J. School of Art, and later became Deputy Director of the same school. He travelled to Paris, Vienna, Madrid and Berlin, and exhibited at the Royal Academy in London. Deuskar won the Viceroy's medal at the Simla Art Exhibition and the Gold Medal of the Bombay Art Society. He primarily worked as a portraitist, painting members of India's royal families and leaders. This drawing is a highly finished portrait.Provenance
