A drawing of the Hindu God, Shiva, and his wife, the Goddess Parvati. Signed by the artist.
Jaganath Ahivasi studied at the Sir. J.J. School of Art in Mumbai, receiving the G. Solomons Medal in 1935, and the Gold Medal from Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. He later became the Head of Department in Painting until his retirement in 1956. Ahivasi sought to emulate the techniques and style of traditional Indian miniature painting, using areas of bright, flat colour and decorative, patterned elements in his work.Provenance
