Pencil, ink and wash drawing of Charlemagne, Holy Roman Emperor. Half length portrait turned slightly to the left, wearing armour and carrying a baton and model of a church. The work is a rough sketch and other sketches can be seen both on the recto and verso, in pencil and brown ink. The sheet has been trimmed.
