A talc stone carving in the shape of Australia, carved on the front with a figure and symbols. On the reverse are carved a fish and stars.
Provenance
Presented to Queen Elizabeth II on a visit to Australia in 1982 by Mr Cornelius Alferink. Queen Elizabeth II's visit formed part of a Commonwealth tour of Australia, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Nauru, Kiribati, Tuvalu and Fiji, 6-31 October 1982. Alferink, known locally as 'Talc Alf', is a Dutch-born artist who produces works of art from talc deposits in Southern Australia.
