Large porcelain figure of a Sioux Native American, in full dress. The left arm raised, with the right arm holding a decorated peace pipe. Fur headress with horns and eagle feathers trailing down the back. Tooth and bone necklace over clothes. Manufactured by Cybis Porcelain to a design by Helen Granger-Young dating from 1968. Granger-Young produced six other Native American studies for Cybis in the 1970s.
Provenance
Presented to Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Canada in 1984, by the people of Manitoba. The Queen met the designer of this piece, Helen Granger-Young, during the visit.
