A watercolour drawing of Sandpit Gate, the Keeper's House in Windsor Great Park, with a group of houses in background and fallen dead trees on ground. Faded. Signed: Howitt. Various labels removed from the verso of an earlier frame include one in Howitt's handwriting, 'Sandgate, a Keeper's House in Windsor Great Park'.
Samuel Howitt was a painter of animals, landscapes and topography and made several drawings of the Windsor estate. Sandpit Gate was the home of the Deputy Keeper of Windsor Great Park, and was home to Thomas Sandby for many years.Provenance
