Princess Victoria, later Queen Victoria, received her first drawing lesson from the artist Richard Westall in 1827, when she was eight years old. She started by copying Westall’s drawings of horses, hands and eyes and later copied some of his finished studies, all produced for this purpose and housed in two albums. For other items in this album see Westall Sketches Volume 1.
For Princess Victoria's copies see RCIN 980014.d and RCIN 980018.f -
