A pencil drawing showing studies of facial features. An eye, mouth and chin, nose and ear are shown in a line in the centre, all facing right in profile.
Princess Victoria, later Queen Victoria, received her first drawing lesson from the artist Richard Westall in 1827, when she was eight years old. She started by copying Westall’s drawings of horses, hands and eyes and later copied some of his finished studies, all produced for this purpose and housed in two albums.
