A pen and ink design for the pediment on the east front of Buckingham Palace. Flaxman was commissioned to design the decoration on the facades of the Palace being redesigned by John Nash for George IV, but died before the work was finished. This design shows Britannia, bearing her shield and trident, in a chariot drawn by seahorses. It is recorded in Flaxman's account book for 20 November 1826. Another version of the design is in the British Museum (1910,0212.249).
