Bernard Evans, a cousin of the Victorian novelist and writer George Eliot, was a landscape painter who studied at the Birmingham School of Art. In the 1880s he was based in Yorkshire and, according to The Magazine of Art (1892), painted a series of views of Yorkshire abbeys.Provenance
