The paintings visible here can be identified by reference the 1818 inventory of Kensington Palace. At the left margin Pontormo’s Virgin and Child (406117), hangs over Licinio’s Concert (40008), and this over a head (possibly one attributed to Barocci no longer in the collection, no 441) and to its right Parmigianino’s head of S Petronio (402733). Leaning up below these is a copy after a famous Annibale Carracci Pieta (402896). Barocci’s Lady with a Dog (402729) appears over the mantle; beyond over the door we can just see the Venus with a Mirror after Titian (402677).

On the end wall Guido Reni’s full-length Judith (402817) is framed at the upper level by a circle of Palma Giovane Venus (left, 402688) and a Danae (right, no longer in the collection). Below these two appear a Campagnola Madonna with saints (left, 405702). The propped up landscape cannot be identified – in spite of its fine Charles I-style frame.

Between the first two windows the life-size double portrait of Lord Darnley and Lord Lennox (401227) appears hanging over Diana and her nymphs, enthusiastically attributed to Rottenhammer (402647). On the lower right margin we can see the St Michael from the Netherlandish Virgin and Saints (405473).
