The paintings in visible here can mostly be identified from the Kensington Inventory of 1818. On the left wall a large Cignani cartoon of Jupiter and Europa (451345), hangs over five heads, Rosalba’s Duke of Wharton (left, 406905), Tyrolese Girl (middle, 451614) and Self Portrait (right, 452375) are separated by Brosamer’s Man (2nd, 402867) and Woman (4th, 402866). Immediately to the right of the cartoon, three paintings top to bottom are Durer’s Lazarus Ravensburger (405697), Lely’s Mayerne (406094), and a Flemish Pharoah’s Dream (402682). Still on the left wall in the corner Tintoretto’s Saints George and Louis (405745) hangs over Marie de Medici (402973) and two works no longer in the collection, a landscape by Domenichino and an oval apotheosis of St Sebastian by Ludovico Carracci. On the facing wall, to the left of the door, a drop of five sees top to bottom, a Spanish Lady (402954), over an unidentified head, then Willem Key, Lazzaro Spinola (402830), Aertgen van Leyden, Martyrdom of St Sebastian (405690) and his St Sebastian before Diocletian (403038) at the bottom. The overdoor is Cignani’s cartoon of a blindfold Cupid (406779); the over-mantle is Stomer’s Roman Charity (402722), hanging over two Van Orley female portraits (left, 403468 and right, 403467), framing a Venetian Last Supper (402703).

To the right of the chimney Coello’s portrait of Princesses Clara Eugenia and Caterina Michaela (404331) hangs over a copy after Correggio’s famous Marriage of St Catherine (no longer in the collection); pairs are arranged around these two: a Molenaer boy (top left, 405487) with a Venetian boy with ruff (top right, 403047); Segher’s Christ (left, 402600) and Virgin (right, 402599); Palma Vecchio’s Sybil (3rd down left, 405763) and British school Man (opposite, 402668); Scarsella’s Tribute Money (bottom left, 402894) and the Battle of Pavia (bottom right, 405792); under the Correggio appear two flower pieces by Otto Marseus van Schrieck (405621-2).

The huge cartoon on the right wall is Cignani’s Bacchus and Ariadne (451344) and the overdoor his Cupid on an Eagle (406780). The large cartoon hangs over five paintings, left to right: Costa’s St Helena (403379), Bolognese Marriage of the Virgin (404913), Steenwyck’s Liberation of St Peter (402882), Lucas de Heere, Argus and Io (406049) and a portrait of Anne of Austria (404349). Just visible at the right margin is a drop of three paintings, from top to bottom: after Raphael, Madonna and Child (402872), Maratta’s Judith (402767), Mytens, Cleopatra (406053).
