An illustrator's drawing showing the King and Queen seated on a canopied dais during the Delhi Durbar of 1911. An Indian prince bows before them. At either side of the dias Indian rulers and digintaries are shown in attendance. Signed and dated at lower right.
A conspicuous display of imperial power, the Dehli Durbar of 1911 marked George V’s succession as King Emperor of India. It also celebrated the transfer of the capital city from Calcutta to Dehli, and the reversal of the partition of Bengal. -
