A watercolour depicting the bride and bridegroom coming down from the altar after the marriage service in the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace. During their two-month engagement, the Duke of York and Princess May saw little of one another but corresponded often. They were married during the tropical July heat of 1893 in the Chapel Royal, St James’s. In this watercolour, Queen Victoria sits on the right and Princess May’s mother stands on the left.
