A watercolour depicting an interior view of the dining saloon of the Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert II. Signed with initials in monogram at bottom right, and signed and dated at bottom left.
Queen Victoria's second royal yacht was launched in 1855. Its interiors were largely designed by Prince Albert, and the Queen commissioned a sequence of watercolours depicting the yacht's various rooms from Penley after the Prince's death. In this watercolour, the table of the dining room is shown laid with covers for eight. On the left in the distance can be seen Osborne House. The deck is visible through the windows at the far end.Provenance
