A watercolour recording the royal visit, in North Wales, to Col. and Lady Louisa Pennant, 15-17 Oct. 1859. Deer graze in the foreground; two figures are on the left, a viaduct in the middle distance and mountains beyond.
The Queen praised the view from her window at Penrhyn Castle, where the royal family stayed for a few days in October 1859, as ‘splendid’. George Fripp, a Bristol artist, was commissioned to record the landscape in a watercolour for the Queen’s Souvenir Album.
