A watercolour showing rhododendrons on the far shore of the lake, with trees behind; two female figures walk with a dog on the left. The Queen used Claremont, near Esher in Surrey, as a country retreat, but made much less use of it after Osborne House was acquired in 1845. Signed and dated 'C R Stanley/1843'.
Provenance
From Queen Victoria's Souvenir Album, volume I, folio 41. In 1843 the artist was paid £19 and 14 gns for two views of Claremont and two views near Claremont respectively.
