This resonantly dynastic scheme was created under Prince Albert’s close supervision. It included Gainsborough’s portraits of George III’s family, more than 200 enamel miniatures of the Queen’s forebears, and Minton porcelain panels decorated with insignia, coats-of-arms and copies of celebrated paintings by Raphael.
