The Queen’s Dressing Room at Balmoral was, like the rest of the house, decorated with a Highland theme. The carpet is a Hunting Stewart, and a specially commissioned ‘Balmoral’ tartan, designed by the royal couple, was used for the table cloth. Prints after paintings by Landseer and Winterhalter decorated the walls.

Commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1857, and mounted in her Souvenir Album; Roberts was paid £129 1s for eleven watercolours of Balmoral interiors, and £32 10s for expenses, on 20 January 1858
