The landscape painter and diarist Joseph Farington gives us a invaluable resource for the study of the London art world after the formation of the Royal Academy in 1768 in the form of his extensive diaries; the manuscripts for these famous diaries are in the Royal Library, together with sketchbooks from Scotland and Wales, and other papers and travel notes. This drawing is one of several drawings of Windsor in the Royal Collection.
