In 1973 The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh undertook a tour of Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan and Alberta, as well as Ottawa, where they were present at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. On 4th July, on a visit to the city of Regina, Saskatchewan, The Queen commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police by presenting a new badge of the RCMP and received this replica tapestry depicting a bison, maple leaves and the motto MAINTIENS LE DROIT ('maintain the law').
