A watercolour view of a scene beside a canal, with church and houses on the further bank. There is a pile of rubble where some houses have been destroyed by the explosion. The drawing shows the aftermath of the explosion of a powder vessel carrying 10,000lbs of gunpowder, which exploded in Leiden on 12 January 1807. Signed and dated 'J. A. Langendijk ad viv. delin, 14 Januarij, 1807'
