A pencil and wash drawing of a view of Windsor Castle from Cranbourne Lodge with a vast leafy tree in foreground. Perpendicular fold at centre. Inscribed by the artist on the verso: Windsor Forest near Craenbury Lodge, and on the recto in a hand associated with the dealer Colnaghi: Windsor Forest from Cranbourne Lodge.
Hendrik de Cort was a Flemish landscape painter and topographical draughtsman, who settled in England from about 1790. The drawing was previously attributed to Paul Sandby.Provenance
