At the centre front, a man is lounging on the grass with a seated woman and child. Another man is standing on the riverbank, with a seated man next to him. On a mount with an ink and grey wash border, inscribed in pencil in a large hand associated with the dealer Colnaghi, 'Windsor Castle by Sandby'. The same pencil hand appears on, for example, RCINs 914586, 914605 and 914713. A watercolour of the same view was formerly in the collection of the Duke of Buccleuch.
