A watercolour drawing of a view of the north and west front of Windsor Castle, from the Brocas. Buildings of Windsor town are at the centre right. In the foreground, the River Thames with some barges, one with a yellow sail. On the bank to the left, a group of three children is flying a kite. At the centre front, a man is lounging on the grass with a seated woman and child. Another man is standing on the riverbank, with a seated man next to him. On a mount with an ink and grey wash border, inscribed in pencil in a large hand associated with the dealer Colnaghi, 'Windsor Castle by Sandby'. The same pencil hand appears on, for example, RCINs 914586, 914605 and 914713. A watercolour of the same view was formerly in the collection of the Duke of Buccleuch.
