A watercolour drawing of Windsor Castle, showing the Secretary of State's (Victoria or the Queen's) Tower and the Tennis Court, from the Little Park. Trees on the left. A man on horseback, probably a Park Keeper, and three standing figures with a child are at the centre. A man in a red coat is in the background. Inscribed on the verso in pencil in a later hand, 'S.E. corner with the Secretary of State's Tower / and the tennis court, from the Home Park'. The sheet of paper is bordered with a narrow grey line. In a mount with a black ink and green wash border.
Probably a replica in watercolour of a bodycolour drawing (RCIN 914579) made for Sir Joseph Banks. The figures with the horse and rider also appear in RCIN 914550. A drawing by Jacob Schnebbelie (RCIN 917374) gives the same view in 1787, after the Queen's Lodge had been erected.Provenance
