A pencil and watercolour drawing of a standing male figure in a landscape, with two women seen from behind on the right. Another figure is drawn lightly in pencil at centre right. Inscribed in pencil on the verso in a later hand, 'Bod Dues/one of Wm Duke of Cumberland's Gardeners at the Great Lodge/ a most facetious fellow' and numbered 67. The paper is watermarked [?]TIAT.

The figure in this drawing and the Bob Munn described in RCIN 914337 are identifiable as Robert Nunn, a gardener who lived at Sandpit Gate from 1752 and was employed by the Duke of Cumberland. A receipt in the Royal Archives outlines 'many repairs to bridge and ridings' for which he was paid £731.0.6 in 1762. Mr Nunn was Keeper of the Outward Gate at Windsor in 1763 and was a pensioner of the Duke of Cumberland in 1764 and 1765. Sandby often misremembered names and dates, and some of the inscriptions on later mounts have been mistranscribed. The same figure appears in a bodycolour at the V&A (113-1898) and a drawing executed in a similar manner of a figure observed in Edinburgh is in the British Museum (1835,0711.52).
