A watercolour of the temples at Philae. Lear's elaborate study, made on the spot between 31 January and 4 February 1854, is in the Ashmolean Museum. He must have used it for many of the variant watercolours of Philae which he later made. A larger version, with variations, is also in the Royal Collection (RL 14282).
