A drawing of a view of Arundel House, from across the Thames; with sections of a column lying on the bank in the foreground. Inscribed, upper centre: Arundel House.
The Bohemian artist Wenceslaus Hollar travelled to England from Prague under the patronage of the Earl of Arundel, and made many prints of topographical views, antiquities and buildings in England. This view of his patron's house was probably made soon after his arrival in England in 1637; the earl died in 1646. -
