A drawing of a view looking north across Balans in Middelburg, the capital of Zeeland, to the Guildhouse of the Civic Guard Company of St George. In the centre of the square is the former Weigh-House. Several members of the Civic Guard stand by a tree in the centre. Inscribed in the bottom left margin: J.B. del. 1791. RCIN 912875 and 912876 belong to a group of monochrome wash drawings of the same size, ten of which are in the Rijksprentenkabinet, Amsterdam. They were engraved by K F Bendorp in volume III of National Views of pictures of the present-day State of the Identifiable Netherlands, published in Amsterdam, 1786-92.
