A drawing of the Brenta canal and Porta Portello gate in Padua. The gate (today called the Porta Venezia) is shown on the left hand side. A bridge, which leads to the gate, crosses the canal. A horse drawn cart is shown on the bridge. Beyond the bridge, is the church of the Carmini. Several boats are shown on the canal. A copy of this drawing by Bellotto is at Darmstadt (AE 2237). A drawing of this view in wash by Canaletto was with Agnew, London in 1989. The wash drawing, and RL 7504 may have been derived from a drawing by Canaletto in the Albertina, Vienna (1856).
