Two hermits c. 1710-20
-
A black chalk, pen and ink and wash drawing of two monks, one outstretched with a crucifix and the other from behind, reading. Inscribed on the verso: No. 15 JS. Blunt suggests that the figures are of the type introduced into compositions that Sebastiano painted with his nephew Marco in imitation of Magnasco. Three similar drawings are in the album in the Accademia, Venice (pages 9, 13 and 83).
