A black chalk and pen and ink drawing of a painting on an altar. Inscribed on the verso: No. 54 JS. A study for Ricci's altarpiece of the Virgin and Child appearing to St Bruno in the Certosa di Vedana, Belluno, painted c. 1725-30. In the finished painting the composition is reversed, and the lunette of God the Father only appears in the drawing.
